Motion graphics project

I did this project entirely in After Effects. This was my first time using this program and, though it was pretty tedious at times, I can definitely see myself using it in the future. I look forward to making other little animated projects, either for my documentary project or otherwise.

As I said in class, this finished clip had fifty-something layers. That was a lot to keep track of. In the future I'll definitely look into separating compositions so that it isn't so much to handle and drag around. Another issue that I had was that I kept forgetting to make certain layers 3D. When I tried to move the camera or when I tried to readjust these layers on the z-axis (without realizing what I was doing) it threw my entire project way off. Sometimes I wouldn't notice this until later, and I'd save it, destroying everything. I fixed a lot of this by copying down all of the coordinates and re-tying them in to reposition things. How cool. Anyway, I like how it turned out. I am very excited to improve it and to work on some new projects.

Some of the tips that I got in class involved font section and characterization. I really want to try to give my text more character. I think that a lot of this was lost when I kept having to re-do large parts. I lost a lot of the energy and the audio/visual timing even started slipping a little in places. Next time that I make an animation, I might try to move around within a larger composition rather than a scaled up/repositioned character (like the question mark that I used here.)
